Global economy talk Wednesday

On Wednesday, Ralph Baker will give a talk titled “Prince Edward County and the Global Economy” at 7:30 p.m. on the fourth floor of the Bortz Library on the Hampden-Sydney campus. His talk will include a discussion of his book “SHOCK EXCHANGE: How Inner-City Kids from Brooklyn Predicted the Great Recession and the Pain Ahead.”

Mr. Baker received his B.A. in economics from Hampden-Sydney College in 1989 and his MBA from the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia (1993). While at Hampden-Sydney, Baker was a basketball All-American.  He has more than 15 years of experience in corporate finance and mergers and acquisitions. He is a former Trustee of Hampden-Sydney College. Baker is currently the executive director of the New York Shock Exchange, a financial literacy program based in Brooklyn, N.Y., that teaches kids competitive basketball skills and the fundamentals of investing.
