Millis Stokes, of Emporia, helped get speeches underway at First Amendment Field behind Moton Museum. He spoke for just over 10 minutes this morning, citing that he was wrongfully terminated from his position with the Virginia Department of Corrections because policies and procedures were not followed. He was reaching out to Virginia U.S. Senator and Democratic vice presidential candidate Tim Kaine or any one of the candidates that would listen to help him achieve justice. He said he wants to be cleared “because my son has my same name.”
You can view some of his speech in the video below.
More people have signed up to speak at First Amendment Field as the day progresses, with the schedule becoming particularly busy after 3 p.m.
