Reid D. Broadwater

Reid D. Broadwater, 81, passed away on Monday, September 20, 2016 in Farmville, surrounded by his family.  He was born in Jennings, MD on June 13, 1935, to Harry and Vespa Broadwater.

Reid moved to Chesapeake in his teenage years.  He was employed and retired from the Virginian Pilot in Norfolk.  He also had a milk route with Yoder Dairies in Virginia Beach.

After retiring, he and his wife, Kathryn, moved to Prospect.  He enjoyed gardening, helping his children in their businesses and playing ball with his grandsons.  He and Kathryn enjoyed numerous bus trips around the East Coast. He loved to hunt and was the hunt master of Pine Ridge Hunt Club.

Reid is survived by his loving wife, Kathryn Lehman; one daughter, Julie (Steve) Hochstetler of Prospect; two sons, Richard (Carol) of Farmville, and Steven (Susan) of Prospect; four grandsons, Matthew (Molly), Jonathan (Krystal), Jesse and Isaac; two great-grandsons, Carter and Owen;  one brother, Jerry Broadwater of Linden, TN; and three sisters, Maxine Hare of Streetsboro, OH, Connie Hewitt of Linden, TN and JoAnn Broadwater of Virginia Beach.  He was preceded in death by his mother, Vespa, father, Harry, two brothers, Stewart and Otis, and three sisters, Lola Bittinger, Inez Bittinger, and Selva Jean Dickerson.

He was a member of Trinity Mennonite Church in Prospect.

The family wishes to thank the entire staff at The Woodland for the loving care of our dad the past two years.

A visitation will be held at Puckett Funeral Home on Friday, September 23 from 5-8pm.

A funeral will be held Sunday, September 25 at 2 p.m. at Newman Funeral Home with burial in the Grantsville Cemetery.
