Redbud Garden Club members met Aug. 23 at the home of Sarah Schember with Jean Taylor as her co-hostess. Katie Register, with Clean Virginia Waterways, talked to the group about keeping Virginia’s waterways clean. Ann Ligon, Geraldine Sanderson and Jo Smith earned blue ribbons for “10:4 or 2:8” (a diagonal arrangement) and April McBride received a red ribbon. Blue ribbons were awarded to Dottie Fahrner, Rebecca Giles, Janet Higgins, Kate Shorter and Jo Smith for “Cooking with Flowers” (an arrangement in a sauce pan). Ann Ligon and Geraldine Sanderson received red ribbons with yellow ribbons going to Liz Dunn and Sarah Schember. Horticulture specimen ribbons were awarded as follows: Rebecca Giles, 4 blue, 1 red; Janet Higgins, 2 blue, 1 red; Ann Ligon, 1 blue; Audrey Robinson, 3 blue, 3 red, 2 yellow; Joyce Thompson, 1 blue.
