A 30-year-old Jacksonville, Fla., woman faces two drug charges after police found her in possession with suspected methamphetamine and marijuana.
According to Buckingham Sheriff William G. “Billy” Kidd Jr., Grace Kennedy was arrested Aug. 31 following an incident that took place outside of Lucky’s Convenience Store on Route 15 near the intersection of Route 20.
Kennedy is charged with drugs: possess Schedule I or II and drugs: possess marijuana, first offense. The former charge is a felony. The marijuana charge is a misdemeanor.
According to Kidd, three deputies observed Kennedy sorting through a cigarette butt receptacle at the store.
“(The deputy) went up and asked the woman for (an) ID. She pulled out a small, pink baggy with pieces of rock-like material inside from her vest and pulled out a small smoking device,” Kidd said.
One of the substances was found to be methamphetamine after a field test, while marijuana was suspected to be in the smoking device.
Kennedy was taken to Piedmont Regional Jail in Farmville, Kidd said.
