Affordable water testing available

Affordable, confidential water testing and education will be offered through Virginia Cooperative Extension offices in Prince Edward County. Participation is voluntary and confidential, but participants must pre-register by Friday. Kits can be picked up Oct. 25 at 5 p.m. at the Prince Edward Extension Office Conference Room. They can then be dropped off between 7-8:30 a.m. Oct. 26 at the Prince Edward Extension Conference Room.
Water samples collected by participating homeowners will be analyzed for 14 parameters, including bacteria, metals, nitrate and hardness for a cost of $52. Results and water system care and maintenance information will be shared at an results/interpretation meeting Nov. 22 at 5 p.m. All information is kept strictly confidential and results are reported only to the homeowner.
