Raffle continues for society

Need a shed? The Prospect Historical Society is selling raffle tickets for an 8×12 shed by Buggy Top Sheds in Cumberland, $50 gas card or $25 cash. For a chance to win, get in touch with a Prospect Historical Society member or go by Merk’s Place. The drawing will take place the first Tuesday in September. Don’t miss out.

Peggy Kelsey was a guest at an 80th birthday party for Penny Baber on Friday at his home. Frankie Baber gave a tribute to Penny for his service to Cumberland County. The band included one of Farmville’s best, Allen Franklin.

They came from Minnesota, Tennessee and Virginia to attend the Stockton Family reunion at Fuqua School on Saturday, July 30. Rhonda Stockton Rowland was chairman this year. Those from the area attending were: Rhonda Rowland, Harold Higgins, Wanda Nash, Richard and Margaret Stockton; Lon and Mary Jo Stockton and, son Sean; John and Frances Turner; and Wilkie Chaffin. Also attending from parts of Virginia were: Jeff and Meg Eastman and children, Elliot, Ansel and Malinda; Danny and Gerri Newcomb; Brian Price and daughter, Morgan; Mike and Iva Sizemore; Cameron Jr. and Carol Shelton and daughters, Caitlyn and Maggie; and Kenneth and Cathy Stockton and their two granddaughters. Traveling from Tennessee were: Coy Lee and Judy Harris; and John and Carolyn McLemore. From Minnesota were: Jenson and Liz Kelsey and daughters; Cora and twins, Sabrina and Scarlett.

Friends and neighbors are praying for a speedy recovery for: Jean P. Derrenbacker, Gail George, Elfrieda Kerns, Betty Jean Bolt, and Mildred Harvey Shanks.

The Rev. Chuck Klotzberger will be at Appomattox P.E. Presbyterian church on Sunday. The church welcomes Terri Kidd as guest pianist. The members of Appomattox P.E. Presbyterian Church at Tuggle invite you to worship with them each Sunday.

The membership of Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church at Prospect invites you to come and worship with them every Sunday; Sunday school is at 10 a.m. with worship at 11 a.m. The Rev. Caitlin Hoy will be at Davis Memorial on Sunday.

Calvary Chapel-Farmville invites you to worship with them on Sunday mornings at 10:30 a.m. The congregation invites you to join them each week on Wednesday evening for Bible study for all age groups at 7 p.m. The church is located at 302 Industrial Park Road, in the former Stackpole-Carbone building.

Grace Chapel, on Simpson Road at Tuggle, invites you to worship with them each Sunday at 10:30 a.m. and on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 p.m. for youth and adult Bible study. The pastor is Jeff Spenser and worship leader is Roger Mahan.
