Karen R. Qawi, of Burkeville, has been accepted into the associate degree nursing program of Southside Virginia Community College (SVCC) for fall 2016 semester.

Qawi is a graduate of Nottoway County High School and has an associate of arts and sciences degree from SVCC. She is married to Loyd Qawi and has two children.

Students who successfully complete this program are eligible to apply for the licensure examination for Registered Nursing.

The program is fully accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Nursing Education and is fully approved as an associate degree nursing school by the Virginia Board of Nursing.
