APPOMATTOX — A 65-year-old Pamplin woman suffered life-threatening injuries after the school bus she was operating veered off the road and struck a tree.
According to state police spokeswoman Corinne Geller, Sheila Y. Schultz was flown to the UVA Medical Center in Charlottesville following the single-vehicle crash, reported at 12:43 p.m. in the 600 block of Redfields Road in Appomattox.
“An Appomattox County Public Schools bus was traveling along Red Fields Road when it ran off the left side of the road and struck a tree,” Geller said. “There was one male student on board at the time of the crash. He suffered a minor injury and was treated at the scene.”
The cause of the crash remains under investigation, Geller said, adding that charges are pending.
