H-SC Football second in ODAC Preseason Poll

The Hampden-Sydney College football team has been picked second in the annual Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Football Preseason Poll, as voted on by the league coaches. The Tigers, who received one first-place vote, tallied 41 points, trailing defending champion and league favorite Washington & Lee, which received six first-place votes and 48 points. Guilford College claimed the final top vote while finishing third in the poll at 35 points.

The Tigers come into 2016 after a 6-4 season in which they finished third in the conference standings, going 4-3 in ODAC play. The team sees 10 starters returning, including four on the offensive side of the ball and five on the defensive end.

Hampden-Sydney opens its season Sept. 3, traveling to Danville to take on the Cougars of Averett University at 6 p.m. The Tigers open at home the following Saturday, Sept. 10, with Christopher Newport for a 1 p.m. kickoff.
