A student from Buckingham County High School (BCHS) received national recognition during the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) National Leadership Conference held in Atlanta earlier this summer.

BCHS student Daniel Brickhill earned second place in a job interview competition, receiving his award during the FBLA Awards of Excellence Program on July 2. Contestants created cover letters, resumes and applied for a business or business-related jobs at a fictitious company — a job contestants actually are now or will be qualified for at the end of the current school year.

Daniel competed at the regional level at Longwood University in March, winning first place. He then won second place at the state level in April in Reston. In Atlanta, he competed against 103 competitors.

“Placing second at this and competing against other FBLA members was amazing and definitely a great experience,” officials with the Buckingham County Career and Technical Center (BCCTC) said in a press release. “(We), along with FBLA, are very proud of Daniel and his accomplishments.”

Daniel is a rising junior, member of the varsity football team and represented BCHS at the Hugh O’Brien Leadership Conference, held at James Madison University earlier this summer. He is the son of Cherie Brickhill of Buckingham and Michael Brickhill of Lynchburg and the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Danny Elder of Buckingham County.
