Virginia Tax-Free Weekend this year is Aug. 5-7. Legislation enacted by the 2015 General Assembly combined Virginia’s three sales tax holidays into one three-day holiday beginning the first Friday in August and ending the following Sunday at 11:59 p.m. This is an opportunity to save on certain school supplies, energy efficient products as well as emergency preparedness items. However, there are certain restrictions on the kinds of things that are eligible for tax exemption. For example, each eligible school supply item must be priced at $20 or less, and each eligible article of clothing and footwear must be priced at $100 or less. For more information on the kinds of items that are designated tax-free visit http://www.tax.virginia.gov/content/sales-taxholiday-product-information.
