I applaud the 200-plus people who signed the petition opposing the 100-unit apartment complex. This is citizenship in action.

They care about Farmville and its people; they took a stand and made their voices heard. My hope is that they will use their votes during the next town council election to remind our officials that they are there to represent us and our interests, our safety and well-being.

We love Farmville and would love to see it grow but not when it serves the special interests of some individuals at the cost of the many.
