Happy Hats meet at Merk’s

Congratulations to the PEFYA Debs on winning the Dixie Softball State Championship. They were on their way come Thursday to Nationals in Louisiana. We wish for them the best of luck.

After church on Sunday, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Meadows and Mrs. Betty Sumner had Sunday dinner at Ruby Tuesday.

Mr. and Mrs. Richard Stockton have returned home from Charlotte, N.C., where they attended the 67th National Chenault Family Reunion. This was held from Friday to Sunday, July 15-17.

While in Charlotte, they visited the Billy Graham Library and Museum as well as his home. This was a most enjoyable trip being able to see lots of family members and the library and museum.

Recently, Mrs. Rita Utzinger and Mrs. Pat Smith enjoyed lunch together at Ruby Tuesdays.

Mr. and Mrs. John Utzinger hosted a cook-out at their home for the small group from Faith Bible Fellowship. Those attending were Mrs. Hilde Watson, Mr. and Mrs. Richard McClintock and Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Smith.

The Prospect Happy Hats met on July 21 at Merk’s Place, and were hosted by Hilda Allen and Elfrieda Kerns. Those joining Hilda and Elfrieda for good food and wonderful fellowship were Sue Case, Betty Meadows, Ann Norton, Rita Rountree, Carol Schall, Pat Smith, Margaret Stockton, Betty Sumner, Elsie Wilson and Dolly Worthy.

Mrs. Dianna Smith joined her mother-in-law, Mrs. Pat Smith, for lunch at Ruby Tuesdays last Wednesday.

Mrs. Norma Hertzler and Mrs. Pat Smith met for lunch at Merk’s on Tuesday.

On Thursday, Mrs. Pat Smith drove to Zions Crossroads to meet her father, Mr. John Keavney, for lunch to celebrate his 89th birthday.

Frances Ollie and Flora Bolt met for lunch at Merk’s Place on July 7 for fellowship and good food.

The Rev. Buddy Woodson was the guest speaker at Appomattox P.E. Presbyterian Church at Tuggle on Sunday, July 17. His wife, Lois, accompanied him. After church they were luncheon guests of Judy Bolt and son, Chris, where they celebrated Judy’s birthday. Others attending were Mrs. Flora Bolt; Jennifer P. Bolt; Alexa Moser, of Charlottesville; Wallace Woodson, of Henrico; Garland Woodson, of Tuggle; Douglas and Betty Jean Bolt; Steve Bolt, and daughter, Ashley Bolt; Jeni Bolt and sons, Joshua and Jacob; Haley Murdock; and Payden Murdock.

Friends and neighbors are praying for a speedy recovery for Jean P. Derrenbacker, Gail George, Elfrieda Kerns, Betty Jean Bolt and Mildred Harvey Shanks.

The Rev. Chuck Klotzberger will be at Appomattox P.E. Presbyterian church on Sunday. They welcome Terri Kidd as guest pianist. The members of Appomattox P.E. Presbyterian Church at Tuggle invite you to worship with them each Sunday.

The membership of Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church at Prospect invites you to come and worship with them every Sunday; Sunday School is at 10 a.m. with worship at 11 a.m.. This being the fifth Sunday, Davis Memorial will have only Sunday School.

Calvary Chapel-Farmville invites you to worship with them on Sunday mornings at 10:30 a.m. They invite you to join them each week on Wednesday evening for Bible Study for all age groups at 7 p.m. at the church, 302 Industrial Park Road, in the former Stackpole-Carbone building.

Grace Chapel, on Simpson Road at Tuggle, invites you to worship with them each Sunday at 10:30 a.m. and on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 p.m. for youth and adult Bible study. The pastor is Jeff Spenser and worship leader is Roger Mahan.

Happy Birthday is wished to all those celebrating a birthday during the month of August; your birthstone is the Sardonyx and your flower is the Gladiola.
