Robert W. Smith, 48, passed away on Monday, June 6, 2016 in Gold Hill. He was born on March 2, 1968 in Richmond. He was employed with Buckingham County Water Systems.

He was a loving son, husband, father and friend to all that knew him.  He was an avid fisherman and loved Smith Mountain Lake.

Robert is survived by his wife, Stephanie Ann Smith of Gold Hill; son, Kevin L. Campbell Jr. and daughter-in-law, Kristen, of Madison Heights; his loving parents, James R. Jr. and Barbara Newton Smith of New Canton; his grandparents, James R. Sr. and Margie Smith of Farmville; and a very large extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends in Buckingham. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Earl and Pauline Newton and Evelyn Smith of New Canton.

A graveside funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 11 at 1 p.m. in the Welcome Wesleyan Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Friday, June 10 from 7 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
