Park Seeks Volunteers

Published 5:22 am Thursday, June 23, 2016

Appomattox Court House National Historical Park is seeking 4-6 volunteers to assist in bridge maintenance on the park’s History/Nature Trail on Saturday.

Along the 4-plus mile trail system, there are three bridges that provide access over creeks for trail users.

The bridges can be slippery and unsafe when they are wet. Volunteers will work in teams to sand three bridges in the park with wire brushes, clean the dirt and debris, and paint the bridge surfaces with nonskid paint. The paint will provide a rougher bridge surface to provide a safe crossing experience for trail users, particularly under wet conditions.
