FARMVILLE — Dr. Barbara Johnson, the newly appointed superintendent of public schools in Prince Edward, will meet members of the community at Longwood University on Wednesday.
The event, which is open to the public, will be held in the Rowe Gallery of Lancaster Hall on High Street from 8-9:30 a.m.
The event is being hosted by Longwood University and the search committee that was involved in the process selecting Johnson.
“We’re thrilled with the choice of Dr. Johnson to be the next great leader of the area schools, and this will be an opportunity to welcome and introduce her to community members,” said Justin Pope, who serves as chief of staff to Longwood President W. Taylor Reveley IV.
“In the days ahead, I’m sure there will be many occasions when she’ll be listening to ideas and suggestions, and I’m sure she’ll welcome those during the meet and greet. But, mostly, I hope the event will reinforce for her that the community is eager to be engaged in the schools and to help her succeed.”
Johnson was named superintendent in May by the county’s school board.
