Josephine Eleanor Trent Ramsey “Josie”, of Brookneal, passed away Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at The Woodland in Farmville. She was the wife of the late Herbert Warner Ramsey.
Mrs. Ramsey was born in Charlotte County, April 2, 1916, the daughter of the late Paul A. Trent and Ida St. John Trent. She celebrated her 100th birthday in April this year and was the oldest member of Midway Baptist Church. Josie was a devoted housewife and took care of her family.
She is survived by a son, Norris Wayne Ramsey Sr. (Bonnie) of Brookneal; two grandchildren, Melody Ann Ramsey of Farmville and Norris Wayne Ramsey Jr. of Richmond; a brother, Dillard Trent (Betty) of Lynchburg; special nephew, Dalton Trent of Brookneal; and special niece, Lisa Trent of Lynchburg. She was preceded in death by a brother, Murray Dalton Trent, three sisters, Effie Ayers, Thelma Lee Trent and Ethel Mildred Wojtacha, two nephews, Dean and Jeffrey Trent, a niece, Linda Ayers Wilson, brothers-in-law, Homer Ayers and Bill Wojtacha, and sister-in-law, Van Cleaf Trent.
A private graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, June 24, by the Rev. Chris Kesler at Midway Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude and thanks to Dr. Don Carwile and the devoted staff members of Centra Medical Group, Brookneal, for the care and service given to Josie. Also, the family is very thankful for Dr. Gordon and special nurse, Connie Redd, and all the staff members of the Lee Unit at The Woodland for the loving care and attention shown to Josie. The family is appreciative for the friends of Midway Baptist and Mt. Carmel Methodist Churches and neighbors who came to visit, sent her a card or made a telephone call just to talk to her.

Henderson Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Brookneal, is assisting the family.
