Family visits, celebrations noted

What a beautiful week the Lord gave us last week! He is so good to us and we do not do much for him.

The annual “surprise” birthday party for Lon Stockton Jr., hosted by his wife, Mary Jo, and son, Sean, was held last Saturday at his home. Attending were many friends as well as his parents, Richard and Margaret Stockton. Lon’s birthday was Monday.

Garland Woodson was honored with a dinner on June 21 at Merk’s Place by his sister, Mrs. Flora Bolt. Garland’s birthday was June 20.

On Sunday, Mrs. Flora Bolt, and most of her family, gathered for lunch with Mrs. Judy Bolt and son Chris to honor Alexa Moser with a birthday party. Alexa’s birthday is Saturday. Alexa will be with her family in Pennsylvania on her birthday.

Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Smith traveled to Unionville on Saturday morning to visit Pat’s father, Mr. John Keaveny. 

They then drove to Stafford to have lunch with Jeff’s mother, Mrs. Dolores Smith.

Mrs. Pat Smith treated her daughter-in-law, Dianna, to lunch at the Uptown Café to celebrate Dianna’s birthday, which was June 30.

Mrs. Flora Bolt and granddaughter Jennifer Bolt attended the Farmville/Prince Edward Historical Society meeting on June 21. Mr. Bob Flippin was the guest speaker.

Congratulations to Joshua Bolt on receiving several blue ribbons on his participation in the horse show at the Sprouse’s Corner Ranch on June 18.

Need a shed? The Prospect Historical Society are selling raffle tickets for an 8×12 shed by Buggy Top Sheds in Cumberland, $50 gas card or $25 cash. For a chance to win, get in touch with a Prospect Historical Society member or go by Merk’s Place. The drawing will take place the first Tuesday in September. Don’t miss out.

Friends and neighbors are praying for a speedy recovery for: Jean P. Derrenbacker, Gail George, Elfrieda Kerns, Betty Jean Bolt and Mildred Harvey Shanks.

The Rev. Chuck Klotzberger will be at Appomattox P.E. Presbyterian church on Sunday. The members of Appomattox P.E. Presbyterian Church at Tuggle invite you to worship with them each Sunday.

The membership of Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church at Prospect invites you to come and worship with them every Sunday; Sunday School is at 10 a.m. with worship at 11 a.m. The Rev. Caitilin Hoy will be with them the month of June.

Calvary Chapel-Farmville invites you to worship with them on Sunday mornings at 10:30 a.m. They invite you to join them each week on Wednesday evening for Bible Study for all age groups at 7 p.m. The church is located at 302 Industrial Park Road, in the former Stackpole-Carbone building.
