Buckingham County High School graduate Charlotte Powell, right, recently received the Kyanite Mining Corporation’s Terrell H. Dunnavant Memorial Scholarship. She will receive $12,000 as part of being chosen. Dunnavant worked for Kyanite for 64 years; the scholarship was established in her honor in 2002. Powell will attend Virginia Tech in the fall.
