This is an open letter to the Prince Edward County Board of Supervisors.

Prince Edward County Board of Supervisors, you did It again! For the third consecutive year you have voted to raise the real estate tax.

I projected in June that you would, and you are right on target! And now I predict that in 2017 you will be back with a 5-cent proposed increase and then settle for 2 or 3 cents!

And the school budget will again require an increase because “we have a new superintendent and don’t want to disappoint or limit him/her” in their efforts.

Rev. Dr. Calvin Gray, it’s time to start representing the residents of the Prospect District who voted you in!

Wade “tax increase” Bartlett, you were hired to administer the county government in a manner to benefit all citizens.

When are you going to start doing this? Anybody can routinely recommend and endorse tax increases. Real estate owners are not the only source for revenue!

The school board needs to learn to live within its budget. The taxpayers of Prince Edward County are already paying more per student than most of the counties around us.
