The photography of Brenda Spencer is currently on display at Main Street Bagel and Bistro, 308 S. Main St.

Capturing nature within a 100-mile radius of Buckingham County is Spencer’s passion. Certainly there are other favorite subjects.

“Capturing antiquity in photographs is once such subject,” Spencer said. “But to be able to see them bring that special scene or wildlife home is special.”

Spencer began taking photographs as a winter pastime while home with her parents, who are 92 and 93.

“There was just so much to photograph right there in my childhood home,” she said. “Those photographs began to generate family stories, and I actually had to begin to archive the early life and times of the Spencers (paternal) and the Tyrees (maternal).”

With the arrival of spring, Spencer took her growing photographic skills outside and immediately fell in love with nature. Macro photography is her specialty.  From her desire to see and examine minute details grew her motto:  “Every morsel of life deserves its moment in the sun.”

The community is invited to see the photography of Brenda Spencer at Main Street Bagel and Bistro.
