Parking lot repairs planned at Appomattox NHP

Appomattox Court House National Historical Park pull-off and parking areas located along State Route 24 will undergo pavement repairs beginning this week and lasting for approximately two weeks. Grant’s Headquarters, the North Carolina Monument parking area and Lee’s Headquarters pull-off sites on Route 24 will be closed to the public during the repair work.
Funded through the Federal Highways Program, a contractor will be conducting this work to provide needed improvements to these locations. The work will include a two-inch chip seal and replacement of broken curbing and striping. The main parking lot will also receive a crack-seal, though these repairs will occur after hours to minimize impacts to park visitors.
Community members are urged to use caution when traveling along the Route 24 corridor during this repair period. Direct any questions to Ernie Price at (434) 352-8987, ext. 227.
