The Cumberland Clothes Closet recently made a donation of $4,000 to the Cumberland County Public Schools (CCPS) Foundation to be used for scholarships.
The Clothes Closet began donating to the CCPS Foundation in 2009 with a $1,000 donation to Cumberland High School. That year, they gave two scholarships for $500 each.
The requirement for receiving a scholarship states that the recipient must be interested in going into nursing upon entering college or has demonstrated volunteerism throughout the community. Over the years the Clothes Closet has increased their donations to the foundation. They feel they can make a positive impression not only on the community but also by contributing to a student’s financial ability to enter college. The idea of “giving back” is a hallmark of the organization.
“A simple ‘thank you’ isn’t enough, however, it mirrors the gratitude that the Foundation, and I’m sure the students, express for their generosity,” director of the Cumberland County Public Schools Foundation Inc. Bruce Robinson said of the Clothes Closet donation.
