A two-vehicle crash killed a 55-year-old Arvonia woman on Sunday morning on Route 20 in Buckingham.

The crash, which killed Phyllis Jones-Bowling, was reported at 8:59 a.m. just south of Route 700.

“A GMC pickup truck was traveling north on Route 20, when it crossed the centerline and struck head-on a Chevrolet Malibu.”

Jones-Bowling was driving the Malibu, Geller said.

“The driver of the GMC, Cody R. Tyree, 24, of Scottsville, was transported to UVA Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. He was wearing a seat belt.”

The cause of the crash remains under investigation and charges are pending, according to Geller.
