Central Virginia Health to celebrate anniversary

After its winter hiatus, the Housewright House Museum has now reopened. The museum, located at 13012 W. James Anderson Hwy., Buckingham Court House, is now open each Wednesday and Saturday afternoon from 1-4 p.m. A hostess is on duty to assist visitors; there is no admission charge. All are welcome to browse through the museum, to research and explore the past.
Salem Baptist Church presents the gospel musical, “This Train,” on Saturday at 3 p.m. at the Crystal Cathedral to benefit the Buckingham County Habitat for Humanity.
Central Virginia Health Services Center (CVHS) and Central Virginia Community Health Center (CVCHC), 25892 N. James Madison Hwy., New Canton, will celebrate its 45th anniversary on Saturday at the health center. To mark this special occasion, the center will hold a yard sale, open house and community health fair. The yard sale will be held from 8 a.m.-noon; rain date is April 16. Anyone wishing to rent a space to sell items may call (434) 581-4073, ext. 10710. Proceeds from the rental spaces go to the pharmacy fund. All proceeds from the yard sale go to the seller. The open house and health fair will take place from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. and will feature activities for all ages, including free health screenings, vintage car show, horse rides, crafts and games for kids. Health centers such as CVCHC are community-based and patient-directed organizations that serve populations with limited access to health care for a variety of reasons including geography, lack of insurance and poverty. The next meeting of the Buckingham Active Seniors will take place Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Old Dillwyn Primary School (across from Fas Mart).
On Saturday, April 23, Historic Buckingham, Inc. invites everyone to a Primitive Technology Day from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Historic Village at Lee Wayside, two miles west of Sprouses Corner. There will be demonstrations, displays, and hands-on activities such as flint knapping, longbow shooting, blacksmithing, survival shelter building and primitive fire building.
