The Hampden-Sydney College baseball team took a 16-9 win over Sewanee on Tuesday afternoon. With the win, Hampden-Sydney improves to 10-6 and wraps up its southern trip.

It was the Tigers that got on the offensive first, scoring the first two runs of the game with one in the second and third, but Hampden-Sydney exploded for eight runs in the top of the fourth to take a commanding 8-2 lead. The Tigers had great patience at the plate, batting in four runs courtesy of bases loaded walks, while Cody Smith (Bristol, VA/Virginia HS) batted in one run with a single, and Tyler Blevins (Draper, VA/Pulaski) drove in three more when he cleared the bases with a double.

Ryan Peevey (Wirtz/Franklin) homered in the fifth. Smith was an impressive 5-for-6 with three RBI and three runs.
