FARMVILLE — Centra Southside Community Hospital, Hampden-Sydney College and the Farmville Area Chamber of Commerce are teaming up to host the “Strike Out Stroke” ballgame to raise awareness about stroke and general health.
The event will be held on Tuesday from 3-5 p.m. at the Ty Cobb Stadium at Hampden-Sydney College.
“This free ballgame will feature health education, blood pressure screenings, food and fun family activities,” said hospital spokeswoman Kerry Mossler.
“Stroke is the number one preventable cause of disability and the fourth leading cause of death in the United States,” she said in a statement. “Someone in the U.S. has a stroke every 40 seconds, yet 80 percent of strokes are preventable.”
The event is free and open to the public.
