Habitat plans Gospel Explosion fundraiser

Dillwyn First Baptist Church, 16989 Oak Street, Dillwyn, will hold a Good Friday service on March 25 at 7 p.m. The community is also invited to attend its Easter Sunrise Service at the Dillwyn Town Cemetery on Sunday, March 27, at 6:30 a.m. Tune in to WVHL radio at 92.9 FM to hear weekly 11 a.m. services at Dillwyn First Baptist Church.

The Buckingham County Ruritan Club invites everyone to its monthly meetings held at 7 p.m. on the second Thursday of the month at Ellis Acres Memorial Park, 245 Camden St., Dillwyn. Ruritan Clubs aim to achieve fellowship, goodwill and community service.

The Buckingham Cattlemen’s Association has announced a mowing bid for the BARN located at 11851 W. James Anderson Hwy., Buckingham. Those interested in bidding to mow all grass surfaces inside the woven wire fence as well as inside and outside the wooden board fence, maintaining the grass height at 3 to 4 inches from April 1 through Nov. 30, 2016, should meet at the BARN on Tuesday, March 29, at 9 a.m. for a mandatory site tour. The Buckingham Habitat for Humanity holds its monthly meetings on the first Tuesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. at the Dillwyn Town Hall. Habitat is holding a Free Gospel Explosion from 3-5 p.m. on Saturday at Crystal Cathedral Church, Main Street, Dillwyn. The community is invited to an afternoon of praise, music and good food. Donations go to support the ongoing building projects of Habitat for Humanity.

In preparation for the annual Relay for Life, the Buckingham and Cumberland Relay for Life, teams are meeting Wednesday, April 13. In Cumberland the meeting will take place at 3 p.m. at Cumberland County High School in Ms. Kelly’s room, 4169; in Buckingham the meeting will be at 6 p.m. at the Buckingham Bus Garage (behind Buckingham school board office). On Monday, May 2, there will be a Hope Club member T-shirt pick-up and last minute instructions. In Cumberland this will be from 5-6 p.m. (location to be announced) and in Buckingham it is 6:15-7:15 p.m. at the Buckingham Bus Garage. This year the fun and festivities of Relay for Life will take place Friday, May 6, from 5-11 p.m. at the Virginia Keys School (formerly Lionheart Resorts).
