Fundraiser to benefit March of Dimes

Important reminder — turn your clocks forward one hour on Saturday night before you go to bed. In other words, you are going to lose an hour of sleep.

On Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at Main Street Lanes, there will be a Bowling “Fun”-draiser for the March of Dimes, “A Fighting Chance for Every Baby.” Call Peggy Emert at (434) 574-6711 for details.

The Longwood Garden Club February meeting was in the home of Pam Wilson at Buffaloe. Julie Shield and Peggy Kelsey both got blue ribbons.

Katie Register spoke on the Farmville Tree Board. Cynthia Wood from Crewe was co-hostess.

Master Gardener Nancy Andrews spoke at the March meeting of the Farmville Woman’s Club held at the Farmville-Prince Edward Library.

Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Smith had lunch at El Patron on Saturday to support a fundraising event for an Appomattox tornado victim.

On Monday Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Smith traveled to Stafford to visit his mother, Mrs. Dolores Smith.  They enjoyed shopping and having lunch together at Red Lobster.

Mrs. Pat Smith met her college roommate, Mrs. Carolyn Boyd, for lunch in Appomattox on Tuesday.

Mrs. Flora Bolt helped her good friend Frances Ollie celebrate her birthday with lunch at Merk’s Place last week. Mrs. Ollie’s birthday was Feb. 22.

Mrs. Betty Noblin enjoyed a visit from her good friend Martha Agee, of Bedford, Monday through Thursday of last week; on Tuesday they traveled to Prince George to visit with Betty’s brother and his wife, Tom and Pat Arrington.

Friends and neighbors are praying for a speedy recovery for Lena Rose Huddleston, Hilda and Scott Friend, Elfrieda Kerns, Betty Jean Bolt and Mildred Harvey Shanks.

The Rev. Lewis Brandt will be guest speaker at Appomattox P.E. Presbyterian Church at Tuggle on Sunday.

Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church at Prospect invites you to Sunday School at 10 a.m. and worship at 11 a.m.

Calvary Chapel-Farmville, 302 Industrial Park Road, invites you to worship Sundays at 10:30 a.m. They also hold Wednesday evening Bible study at 7 p.m.
