The Crewe Astronomy Club will present an evening of gazing at the stars and learning about the night sky on Saturday from 7-8:30 p.m. at Sailor’s Creek Battlefield Historical State Park. Using hi-tech telescopes positioned in front of the visitor center, guests will have the opportunity to look at planet Jupiter with its many moons, the Orion Nebula containing the red supergiant star Betelgeuse and the blue supergiant star Rigel as well as the Andromeda Galaxy and the center of the Milky Way. Visitors may bring their own telescope.
Kim Kenny, facilitator of the program, will provide a power-point presentation on how to become a backyard astronomer. The program is free to the public and family-friendly.
