Seymore M. Jamerson Jr.

Seymore M. Jamerson Jr., 82 of Cumberland, formerly of Hopewell, died in Hospice care at Retreat Hospital, Richmond, in the early morning hours of Tuesday, February 23, 2016.

In his lifetime he was known as “Junie Po Seymo”, “The Vegetable Man”, “Truck Man”, “The White Mexican”, “The Hunter”, ‘The Wood Man” and “The Fisherman”.

Mr. Jamerson is survived by a daughter, Sherry Jamerson Thompson; granddaughters, Amanda Lee and Rachel; one sister, Peggy Timberlake (French); and his brother, Billy Jamerson of Gloucester. Seymore was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia, after 57 wonderful years of marriage, a daughter, Margaret Ann, his brothers, Elvin, Robert, and Dennis, and a sister, Bissy.

The family wishes to thank all the people who cared for Seymore during this very trying time.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, February 28 at 2:30 p.m. at Payne Memorial Church with interment to follow at Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Sunday from 1-2:30 p.m. at the church.

Memorial contributions made be made to Payne Memorial Church fund.
