Play, Taste of Farmville enjoyed by locals

Oh, what a difference a week makes. Last week it was 16 degrees, and this week 60 degrees. There is still plenty of snow lying around, so look out.

John Marsden celebrated his birthday on Monday with his family.

Last Thursday Mrs. Brenda Walton, of Powhatan, and Mrs. Pat Smith met at the Cumberland Restaurant for breakfast.

On Saturday Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Smith went to Lynchburg to shop and had lunch at the Hibachi Grill.

On Sunday Mrs. Flora Bolt had lunch with Mrs. Judy Bolt; others attending were Chris Bolt, Jennifer Bolt, Ashley Bolt, Haley Murdock, Payden Murdock and Alexa Moser.

Mrs. Flora Bolt visited with Cindy Hedrick in Rice followed by visiting with Frances Bolt and Marsha Bolt in Rice. Mrs. Bolt was happy she could get out and do some visiting.

Mrs. Betty Noblin and Mrs. Anita Harris have returned home following a train trip to Florida, Jan. 21-31.

While in Florida they visited with several friends.

Sean Stockton spent Thursday with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Stockton. In the evening they were joined by Lon and Mary Jo Stockton, Mr. and Mrs. Don Meadows and their son, Donald, at the Taste of Farmville. All the food was very good.

Mr. and Mrs. Don Meadows, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Stockton and Mr. and Mrs. George Moore attended the production “Luau at Acorn Acres” presented by the Bifocals at the Waterworks Theatre.

The Waterworks Players will present “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?” on Feb. 12, 19, 20 at 8 p.m. and on Feb. 13 at 2 p.m. Admission is $12 reserved seating; visit waterworksplayers.org.

A pancake supper at the Prospect Fire House sponsored by the Prospect Volunteer Fire Department Auixilary will be held Feb. 20 from 5-7 p.m. 

The cost is a donation at the door. The meal will include pancakes, sausage, bacon, apples and a drink.

Friends and neighbors are praying for a speedy recovery for Ruth Patteson, Hilda and Scott Friend, Elfrieda Kerns, Betty Jean Bolt and Mildred Harvey Shanks.

The Rev. Chuck Klotzberger will speak at Appomattox P.E. Presbyterian Church at Tuggle Sunday.

The Rev. Caitilin Hoy will speak at Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church at Prospect Sunday at 11 a.m.

Calvary Chapel-Farmville, 302 Industrial Park Road, invites you to worship Sunday at 10:30 a.m.
