Pamplin Post Office will handle Evergreen mail

PAMPLIN — As a result of the tornado activity which affected Appomattox County last week, the Evergreen Post Office, located at 7077 Evergreen Road, has temporarily moved its operations to the Pamplin Post Office.
According to a news release from the U.S. Postal Service, the roof of the building, which housed a vacant general store and the Evergreen Post Office, was blown off and windows were damaged during the tornado.
“Customers of Evergreen Post Office are asked to retrieve their mail and obtain retail services at the Pamplin Post Office, 5.8 miles away. Pamplin Post Office is located at 1 Church St., Pamplin,” the release stated.
The hours of operation for Pamplin Post Office are Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m.-noon and 1:30 p.m.-4:45 p.m., and Saturday 9 a.m.-noon.
“Customers are required to show a photo ID to receive their mail. Pamplin customers will continue to have 24-hour access to their PO Boxes.”
The Postal Service said it’s working with the building owner to restore service to the Evergreen Post Office as quickly as possible. “Pamplin Postmaster Tawana Booth asks customers who have questions or concerns to call her at (434) 248-5371.
