MY START: My dad swam in high school and college, and he kind of pushed me to swim as a child. I also swim because I have a brittle bone disease (osteogenesis imperfecta) and I can’t really do contact sports.
BIGGEST INSPIRATION: The clock. I try to push myself to beat my best times.
FAVORITE PART OF MY SPORT: It’s definitely the competition because you see your hard work pay off, and also Hampden-Sydney’s swim team has brought back my love for swimming. In high school, it was just so demanding and now I am part of a great team. We have more fun than anybody else. We did pretty well this year and next year we are going to come back twice as good.
HOBBIES: I like to fish and spend time at my lake house skiing, boating and tubing … that kind of thing.
