PRINCE EDWARD — A portion of High Bridge was vandalized with spray-painted graffiti recently.
“We had some small graffiti … on the bridge piers on the footers. It was this past weekend,” said Park Manager Daniel Jordan.
The incident was reported Monday morning to Jordan.
“There’s a little bit on the original 1854 pier and some on the 1914 footers, concrete footers,” Jordan said.
“There was a couple phrases,” he said. Jordan wouldn’t say what was written on the bridge.
“High Bridge is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, so it’s a historic landmark,” he said. “We will clean it and restore it to its original state.”
There are no suspects identified in connection with the incident.
He said the vandalism was an isolated incident. “This isn’t a common occurance for us … We will step up patrol and do other things to maintain the bridge.”
