Equine/Forage School planned

Virginia Cooperative Extension, Virginia Forage and Grassland Council, and Virginia Horse Industry Board invite barn managers, horse owners and hay producers to attend the Advanced Equine and Forage Management School to be held on Wednesday, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Virginia Tech Southern Piedmont AREC in Blackstone.
The program will include discussions on forage and pasture management, forage variety selection, forage feeding management, horse nutrition, hay feeding programs, hay analysis and insurance for horse operations. Speakers will include forage specialist Dr. Chris Teutsch, Madison County Extension agent Brad Jarvis, Equine Extension Program Coordinator Shayan Ghajar from the Middleburg AREC and Agribusiness and Farm Insurance Specialist David Wise.
The program will also feature a panel discussion led by local horse managers and hay producers who will share their challenges, successes and insight.
Lunch is included.
