Focus Contemporary Art is currently expanding its speaker series held every other month at the studio or Victory Hall. The bi-monthly series brings in artists, authors, musicians and other creators to share their experiences and advise emerging talent. Alex Nyerges, the director of the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts in Richmond is scheduled to speak Saturday, Feb. 13, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Victory Hall, 401 Valley St., Scottsville. Admission is free.

The studio, a joint effort between three artists in southern Albemarle County, promises to bring expanded opportunities to live and breathe the arts around Scottsville. Bob Strini, Linda Wachtmeister, and Michelle Gagliano recently opened Focus Contemporary Art – An Extension of Our Studios.

Visitors can experience the evolving artistic process and see the artists’ ideas come to life. The studio is divided into one large exhibition area with smaller work areas for each artist. Strini, Wachtmeister, and Gagliano are hoping Focus can become a meeting place for creative minds to grow and share ideas and experiences.
