I went to Richmond Monday, Jan. 18, to be part of the lobby effort to encourage the state legislature to enact background checks for gun purchasers. I was able to speak to Del. Matt Fariss. He was absolutely against any common-sense regulations in the purchasing of firearms. He said there were enough laws on the books regulating firearms.
At the rally I spoke to a man who was pro- gun and very courteous. His rationale was that citizens need to be armed to oppose governments, such as Nazism. Neither man seemed too concerned about Sandy Hook, Columbine or Virginia Tech.
It seems to me that common-sense regulations are supposed to protect citizens and not represent organizations like the NRA.
