Girl Scouts of the Commonwealth kick off 2016 season
Girl Scouts of the Commonwealth of Virginia (GSCV) today announced that the long-awaited Girl Scout Cookie Season began Jan. 8.
The cookie program that runs through March 21 continues the tradition of empowering girls to develop financial literacy and important leadership skills, while earning funds for new adventures and life-changing opportunities.
Once again, the iconic Girl Scout Cookie packages will showcase the five skills that the Girl Scout Cookie Program teaches girls: goal setting, decision making, money management, people skills and business ethics.
“Everything girls do in Girl Scouting is designed to help them grow into leaders of courage, confidence, and character,” Girl Scouts of the Commonwealth of Virginia CEO Molly T. Fuller said.
“When you buy Girl Scout Cookies, you’re doing your part to help Girl Scouts make your community a better place as they prepare for a more successful future.”
The Girl Scout Cookie Program has gone beyond the cookie booth and now offers a new way to sell and buy cookies and support girls’ learning at the same time. Introducing Digital Cookie 2.0, the fun, educational tool that helps girls run and manage their Girl Scout Cookie business online.
This is Girl Scouts of the Commonwealth of Virginia’s second year participating in Digital Cookie, which now offers a more robust, hands-on, and entertaining learning experience for girls.
With an enhanced cookie website, fun quizzes, games, videos and other activities, girls learn about marketing, budgeting, resource allocation and other business skills on their way to cookie success.
Girls can set their cookie goals, track their progress, manage orders and inventory, learn Internet safety skills and more all while they earn age-specific Cookie Business badges and explore ways to help others by investing their earnings back into their communities.
This year, Girl Scouts of the Commonwealth of Virginia will be offering a new gluten-free cookie.
Toffee-tastic Girl Scout Cookies are crispy, buttery cookies packed with golden toffee bits. Toffee-tastics are NSF-certified, which ensures their ingredients and production comply with federal regulations for gluten-free labeling.
Girl Scouts of the Commonwealth of Virginia will be offering the following flavors in the 2016 cookie season: Thin Mints, Samoas, Tagalongs, Trefoils, Savannah Smiles, Do-Si-Dos, Rah-Rah Raisins and Toffee-tastics.
For customers looking to purchase Girl Scout Cookies, there’s now an app for that. Download the official Girl Scout Cookie Finder App on the App Store.
