Gene Hampton Combs, 77, passed away on Friday, January 8, 2016. He was born on January 31, 1938, in Carroll County. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sterling and Lela Johnson Combs, and a sister-in-law, Norma Jean Combs.

He loved to fish and hunt and spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a long-time member of Tar Wallet Baptist Church. He retired after working at Beaumont Juvenile Correctional Center for several years.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy B. Combs; two daughters, Debbie C. Bruce (Bill) of Cumberland, and Tammy C. Ingle (Kevin) of Cumberland; two brothers, Sidney Combs (Rose) of Salem, and Taylor Combs of Cumberland; a sister, Donna C. Sloan (Mike) of Cumberland; three grandchildren, Lauren Whitlow (Michael), Tyler Ingle (fiancé Casey), and Amber Bruce.

A memorial service was held on Wednesday, January 20 in the Chapel of Puckett Funeral Home.
