Caroling on the Avenues marks 18th year

On Dec. 20 children of all ages dressed warmly, and wearing holiday hats and carrying bells, prepared to deliver Christmas tunes to residents and shut-ins along the Farmville avenues. For many families this annual caroling event has become a tradition. Children ride in a trailer provided and towed by Tim Tharpe, and adults walk behind the carolers. Santa even took time from his busy schedule to ride along this year. Jennifer, Peyton and Guy Wall host “Caroling on the Avenues,” now in its 18th year. “It all started with a much smaller trailer and committed band of very young children on a particularly freezing Sunday afternoon,” Jennifer Wall said. “Over the years the event has grown and so has its intention — spreading old-fashioned Christmas joy!”
