Siblings seek to improve the lives of Cumberland’s less fortunate

Jamilette Hamlette, right, the 2015 Tiny Miss Eastern Division Queen, and her brother Jacori, truly know the meaning of giving back at a young age. Jamilette, 6, and Jacori, 8, of Cumberland, recently decided to assemble gift bags for the community, containing basic necessities such as laundry detergent, toothpaste, soap, shampoo and food. After getting the bags together, the two donated them to Cumberland’s Social Services Department. Jamilette and Jacori both plan to continue their acts of kindness — not only in the holiday season — but throughout the year. We commend the siblings for understanding — at such a young age — that giving is much more important than receiving. Jamilette and Jacori are the children of Jacqueline and Jerome Hamlette.
