FARMVILLE — Local state parks in Buckingham, Cumberland and Prince Edward will hold First Day hikes on Friday across the Heart of Virginia.

High Bridge Trail State Park’s hike will begin at 2 p.m. at the end of the new Camp Paradise Road at the picnic pods, while Sailor’s Creek Battlefield State Park’s hike will begin at 10 a.m. at the visitor’s center.

James River State Park’s hike will begin at 1 p.m. at the visitor’s center, while Holliday Lake State Park’s will begin at 11 a.m. behind the concession stand.

Bear Creek Lake State Park will hold its hike at 11 a.m. at Bear Creek Hall, while Twin Lakes State Park will hold its hikes at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
