Jeff Wise, Ty Martin and Ja’Mir Smith received leadership awards for their participation in the State-Wide Teen Excellence in Leadership Institute (TELI) recently. This was a premier leadership program for FFA and 4-H youth in which only 25 young people from the state were selected to attend.

Ja’Mir was also recognized for excellence in leadership.  He was one of 17 youth attending National 4-H Congress last November, was tapped into the Virginia 4-H All-Stars, and was elected by his peers to the state 4-H Cabinet as a Central District 4-H Ambassador and to elected to serve as state 4-H reporter/historian.

“These three young men are outstanding leaders in many aspects of their lives, not just 4-H,” Extension agent Ruth Wallace said.  “They have taken the skills that they have gained and applied them in many ways.”
