Happy Hats celebrate 11th birthday

Mrs. Flora Bolt celebrated her birthday Sept. 18 with dinner at the home of Linda Troyer and Becky Powell. This was the ninth year these ladies have provided a meal for the community and friends. After dinner Smokey Wilson sang “Happy Birthday” to Mrs. Bolt. There were over 300 present. Thanks to Linda and Becky for your friendship and hospitality.

Mrs. Judy Bolt and son Chris had a luncheon honoring Mrs. Flora Bolt Sept. 20, and she received many nice gifts. Others present were: Steve and Betty Jean Bolt, Stacy Bolt, Steve Bolt, Haley Murdock, Jennifer Bolt, Garland Woodson and Ashley Bolt.

A surprise call from London, England, on Sept. 18 from her nephew Buddy Woodson and his wife Lois, wished Flora a happy 85th birthday. This was also Buddy’s birthday. The Woodson family was very excited as their daughter and son in-law and two daughters were visiting from Goshen Baptist Church in Buckingham. Flora received a call from friend and high school classmate Marie Weaver Bucknam from Tarboro, N.C., as well as many other calls and cards. She thanks each one that remembered her.

On Sept. 27 Mrs. Flora Bolt, Jennifer Bolt, Alexia Moser, Haley Murdock and Payden Murdock had lunch with Mrs. Judy Bolt and son Chris Bolt.

Mrs. Alice Templeton and Mrs. Betty Noblin took a bus trip on Tuesday to Winchester to visit the home of Patsy Cline.

The Prospect Happy Hats celebrated their 11th birthday by having lunch at the Golden Palace on Sept. 24.  Elsie Wilson, Jeannette Tarlton, Betty Sumner, Margaret Stockton, Ann Norton, Betty Meadows, Jean Covington, and Hilda Allen and two charter members, Hilda Allen and Margaret Stockton were present. The group enjoyed three hours of food and fellowship.

Friends and neighbors are praying for a speedy recovery for Hilda Friend, Elfrieda Kerns, Betty Jean Bolt and Mildred Harvey Shanks.

The Rev. Chuck Klotzberger will be at Appomattox P.E. Presbyterian Church at Tuggle on Sunday.

Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church at Prospect invites you to worship Sunday with Sunday School at 10 a.m. and worship at 11 a.m. The Rev. Caitilin R. Hoy will be there Sunday as they celebrate Holy Communion.

Calvary Chapel-Farmville, 302 Industrial Park Road, invites you to worship at 10:30 a.m. Sunday and Bible Study at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
