The week of Sept. 17-23 marks the 228th year of the signing of our Constitution. The Preamble reads, “We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, insure domestic Tranquilly, provide for the Common Defense, promote the General Welfare and secure the Blessing of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do we ordain and establish this CONSTITUTION for the United States of America.”
The Judith Randolph-Longwood Chapter of the NSDAR encourages everyone to remember that in 1787 our constitution, the world’s oldest written national constitution still in existence, was signed.
As citizens, we are reminded that it is important to renew our knowledge of this document and those who signed it.
At 4 p.m. on Thursday people across our nation will be ringing bells to celebrate this day in our history.
