Fuqua School’s varsity football team hosted Greenbrier Christian Academy on Friday evening and ran away with a 35-7 win over the Gators.
Fuqua’s Tyler Frink had a big night on the ground, carrying the ball 28 times for 214 yards and had two touchdowns. Frink not only had his way in the rushing category, but also tallied 10 tackles in the game.
“He [Frink] isn’t the biggest nor the fastest player, but he sure showed up big for us tonight,” Fuqua head varsity football coach Ben Manis said.
Devin Allen also had a great night against a tough Gator defense, tossing for 106 yards on seven completions, five of which were completed by Ed Newman who caught one of his two touchdowns in the endzone.
The rock-solid Falcon defense was helped by Billy French, who had eight tackles on the night. Michael Thornton added five of his own.
After next week’s bye, Fuqua School will face Fishburne Military Academy at home on Friday, Sept. 11, with a 7 p.m. start.
