Deacon Cecil T. Watson

On Tuesday, September 15, 2015, Deacon Cecil T. Watson answered the call from labor to reward at the MCV Hospital in Richmond. He was born June 29, 1953 to the late Deacon Willie Watson and Shirley Jennings.

Mr. Watson was a member of the New Bethel Baptist Church. He attended the Prince Edward County Public School system and graduated from Prince Edward County High School.

He was preceded in death by his father, Deacon Willie Watson, his sister, Vickie, brother, Deacon Roscoe Watson, and grandson, Isaish Watson.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories, his devoted wife, Diane M. Watson; a loving son, Deacon Tyrone (Shantay) Watson of Appomattox; two stepsons, Juan Matthews and Robert Taylor Jr.; five grandchildren, Dré , Karisma, Serenity, Deonna and Kaliah (Him Baby); a loving mother and stepfather, Deacon John and Shirley Jennings of Meherrin; five sisters, Mary Ford of Meherrin, Shirley Williams of Pamplin; Evangelist Denise (Earl) Monroe of Richmond; Pamela (James) Ross and Angela (Jeffrey) Foster of Meherrin; two brothers, John Edward and Deacon Jerry (Irma) Watson of Meherrin; six sisters-in-law, Rose Watson, Barbara Nelson (Rocky), Florine Doughty, Vicky Morton (Danny), Robin Stocks (Vernon), and Cheryl Scott (Greg); three brothers-in-law, Russel Parker, William Matthew (Faye), and Conrad Matthews; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A Homecoming Celebration with Masonic Rites was held Saturday, September 19 at New Bethel Baptist Church, Meherrin, with the Rev. Haney Thomas Jr., pastor/eulogist, and the Rev. Samuel Trent, officiant. Interment was in the church cemetery.
