Wilfred J. Tyree Sr., 88, of Cartersville, departed this life on Thursday, July 30, 2015 in Fluvanna.

Mr. Tyree is a WWII veteran, retired mail carrier from the United States Postal Service of Richmond, and a retired school bus driver from Cumberland County Public Schools, Cumberland.

He is survived by six sons, Wilfred Tyree Jr. (Robin), William Curtis Tyree, Kevin Tyree (Barbara), Howard Carlton Tyree, Conrad Tyree (Eurika), and Preston Tyree (Melody); two daughters, Karen Brockenbrough (James Sr.) and Shirlene Tyree; one stepson, Wayne Matthews; 25 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Velma Borden and Virginia Smith; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 5, at 3 p.m. at Virginia Veterans Cemetery at Amelia, Amelia, with the Rev. Wilfred Tyree Jr. officiating.
